CWC Los Angeles will begin the 2020-21 school year with 100% distance learning. As the numbers of positive COVID-19 cases and deaths continue to rise across California and Los Angeles County, we are opening with our robust Distance Learning 2.0 program. LAUSD has also announced that all District schools will open without students in person.
We would like to commence in-person instruction as soon as it is safe for students, staff and families, and we know that school serves an important role for many families in providing a safe and nurturing space for children during the school day. We would prefer to have students learning in person with our talented staff. We are committed to reopening CWC LA schools when it is safe to do so, and we are grateful to you for understanding the vital need to keep our communities safe.
We will implement a staged approach to reopening. As public health conditions continue to evolve over the next several months, we will be closely monitoring them and will provide an update by the end of September regarding the current state of health outcomes across LA County and our feasibility analysis about whether CWC LA can reopen safely and when. Safety for our staff, students and families will remain our top priority in making this assessment.
