Norman Molesko

As a Senior Citizen and Senior Poet, Norman crafted and performed  his Senior Poetry over the past ten years.  These poems offer insights and inspirations on aging and nature They include the sunny and the realistic aspects of life from varying perspectives.
 
Norman‘s new book is titled “Retiring And Senior Living, Experiencing The Second Half Of Life.”
 
Norman holds a Masters Degree in Psychology from the New School for Social Research.  He was a psychologist in the Army, college psychology professor, nursing home administrator and a human factors specialist.  He was listed twice in American Men of Science.  Norman is a member of the California Writers Club/West Valley Branch and the Academy of American Poets. He served on the Los Angeles Dept. of Aging Council on Aging.
 
Norman was designated as Poet Laureate for the California Retired Teachers Association, San Fernando Valley Division and Resident Poet of the San Fernando Valley Voice Newspaper.  He was named Featured Writer of the Month for July 2009 by the Senior Citizens Section, Los Angeles Dept. of Recreation & Parks.
 
Norman’s poems have appeared in the Gerontological Society of America Journal of Aging, Humanities and the Arts, the Wilkinson Multipurpose Senior Center Newsletter, the Senior Moments Newsletter, the Pierce College ENCORE Older Adult News and the California Writers Club Scribe and In Focus Newsletters and on the Northridge Centennial Celebration website. He served as the Poet Coordinator for the 2009 and 2007 ENCORE Student Art Exhibits With Poetry Selections From The Senior Community for the Pierce College Older Adult Program.
 
Norman was the Featured Poet: at the Senior Talent Show for the 2009 Los Angeles Dept. of Aging Celebration of Older Americans Month; at the 2008 Dreaming To Awakening Stage Production; and at a 2008 Ron Dvorkin’s New Voices Poetry Session A poetry reading was aired on “Aging in L.A.” on the City of Los Angeles Television Channel 35.  His Senior Poetry was showcased at the Northridge CA. Public Library.  He introduced the USC Institute for the Genetic Medicine Exhibit on Remembering the Forgetting, performing an Alzheimer-related poem.  Another of his poems is displayed on a Canadian chronic pain support group website. Norman performed several of his poems at the 2007 Russian Civic Hosting Program, on Health and Social Services in the City of Los Angeles, conducted by the League of Women Voters.
